It is with much excitement and pleasure that I invite you and your team to participate in the 2021 Oceania Taekwondo G2 Poomsae/ Para Poomsae Championships (G2 National Teams Poomsae Championships) & Oceania Open Online Poomsae/ Mixed Poomsae/ Para Poomsae/ Para Free Style/ Flying Side Kick Championships on May 15 ~ late May 2021.
The competition will contain a G ranked event and a number of Open events to be conducted online at a time when the COVID pandemic thankfully appears to be on a gradual decline. It is aimed to provide the Taekwondo community an opportunity to maintain their skills whilst competing in a non-threatening virtual environment, and be judged by highly experienced international referees. All this will be achieved without the need to travel long distances to a live event during uncertain times.
This competition will see limited entries to ensure that the event can be completed in a timely manner. Therefore, entries will close once the number of entries we receive exceeds the time we have allocated per court. You will need to get in early so as not to miss out.
Note that all participants must be current MNA members at the time of the event. I look forward to having your country, club and your students participate in the 2021 Oceania Taekwondo G2 Poomsae/ Para Poomsae Championships (G2 National Teams Poomsae Championships) & Oceania Open Online Poomsae/ Mixed Poomsae/ Para Poomsae/ Para Free Style/ Flying Side Kick Championships in May 2021.
Mr. John KotsifasPresident, World Taekwondo Oceania & Vice President, World Taekwondo WTO/AT Announcement: Notice to Postpone - Gajok Games: Dear Taekwondo CommunityRecent border closures in certain states and the continued uncertainty about interstate travel following additional outbreaks of the covid 19, leaves us with no alternative but to postpone the Gajok Games until further notice. The partnership between Oceania Taekwondo and Australian Taekwondo is to work in partnership to deliver a competition to members which was enjoyable and above all safe. On advice from QLD health, we took all steps possible to ensure we conduct the event using all protocols and covid safe measures to protect athletes, coaches, officials and other participants. Despite this, we acknowledge the concern of clubs, athletes and parents about their ability to travel interstate and the possibility of sudden border closures from time to time. For this reason, and light of current border closures, we have decided to postpone the event until further notice. The safety and interests of our participants and all concerned with the event is paramount. We are confident of announcing new dates for the event in the near future and we look forward to seeing everyone very soon. In the meantime, we extend to everyone our best wishes and trust that you all stay safe. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have paid a registration fee for reimbursement. This event is brought about as a result of a partnership between Australian Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Oceania to bring to the Oceania Taekwondo Family a quality and fun for all event for all participants alike. The event will include Kyorugi, Poomsae and Para Taekwondo as well as a new mixed gender teams event. The exciting and innovative tournament will give Taekwondo participants the chance to showcase their skills as we bring our sport back into the public eye.Australian Taekwondo CEO Heather Garriock was pleased to announce the tournament, sighting it as the perfect chance for the Australian and Oceania taekwondo community to get together to move the sport forward.“The Gajok Games will be a wonderful way for the sport to reinvigorate itself post COVID19,” said Garriock. “It also presents a great opportunity for Australian Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Oceania to come together to build our sport.“The fun we will have at the event will help grow our sport even more. We have 50,000 participants in our sport and we want to showcase Taekwondo to the wider community to show them what a wonderful sport we have.”World Taekwondo Oceania Secretary General Stuart Lee encouraged the taekwondo community to embrace the event as a chance to rebuild after a challenging year.“The 2020 year has been difficult and challenging for everyone especially club owners and taekwondo students,” said Lee. “hopefully the covid year is nearly over and now is a great time to announce the jointly managed 2021 Australian & Oceania Taekwondo Gajok Games, Gajok meaning ‘family’ in Korean is very suitable moving forward in 2021.”“The event which is being organised and promoted by both Australian Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Oceania, will be a time to celebrate what is hopefully a healthy and prosperous 2021 for the entire taekwondo community. The Kyorugi, Poomsae and Para events will be open to many divisions from kids coloured belts to open black belts and with the introduction of the Mixed Team event should prove extremely exciting for all. This will be a worldwide open event but because of travel restrictions to Australia, it is expected that the majority of athletes will be from Australia and New Zealand. Consequently, it will not be a world ranked event for senior black belt competitors. Nonetheless, because it is the first major Taekwondo event of the 2021 calendar, it will be the first opportunity for competitors to compete in a Covid free environment for a very long time.“It is a time for all clubs and families to get together to celebrate the new year on the sunny Gold Coast, QLD and as this event will be hosted around easter the opportunity is there for families to have their first holiday for a very long time.” said Lee.More details of the event will be announced soon.Contacts:Heather Garriock Stuart LeeChief Executive Officer Secretary GeneralAustralian Taekwondo World Taekwondo Oceania+61 419 922 545 +61 412 022 941 The following Course are still open for registration:We would like to kindly remind you that registrations are open for three more World Para Taekwondo Coach Certification Course Level 1.• 7th World Para Taekwondo ONLINE International Coach Certification Course [Level I] - (English/Persian) - Course Dates : 15th December - 17th December 2020 - Registration Deadline: 12 Dec 2020, 11:59:PM (GMT+04:30 Asia/Tehran) • 8th World Para Taekwondo ONLINE International Coach Certification Course [Level I] - (English/Arabic) - Course Dates : 27th December - 29th December 2020 - Registration Deadline: 24 Dec 2020, 11:59:PM (GMT+03:00 Asia/Riyadh) • 9th World Para Taekwondo ONLINE International Coach Certification Course [Level I] - Course Dates : 22nd January - 24th January 2021 - Registration Deadline: 19 Jan 2021, 11:59:PM (GMT+01:00 Europe/Berlin) In accordance with Article 6.1 of the WT Administration Regulations of Para Taekwondo Coaches (May 7, 2020).
